Two reasons students choose this route

To go on to university

Study Korean for TOPIK and Korean universities, or English, Chinese and Malay for study in Malaysia. You build the language you need while you live in Johor Bahru on a legal student pass. Korean classes are taught by native Korean instructors who hold Korean teaching certification.

To work with international companies

Johor Bahru sits beside Singapore, where English, Mandarin and Malay are part of daily life, and Korean companies operate across Malaysia. Study the language your next role asks for.

From application to your first class

Plan on roughly two to three months in total. Apply about three months before you want to start.

Your passport must be valid for at least 18 months. A student pass is usually issued for up to one year at a time and then renewed, which requires at least 80% attendance. We track your dates and start renewal about three months before expiry.

  1. Day 0

    Apply to iSeodang

Send the application form and the documents on the checklist below. We review every file before it goes to EMGS, because incomplete files are the biggest cause of delay.

  2. Days 1 to 3

    Pay the initial fees

You receive a written, itemised quotation first. Nothing is paid against an estimate.

  3. 14 working days

    EMGS and Immigration review

This is the published EMGS client charter for a complete application. You can follow the status on the EMGS website or app.

  4. Milestone

    eVAL approved

Immigration issues the electronic Visa Approval Letter through EMGS. It is valid for six months from the date of issue, so you have time to plan travel. You then settle the remaining tuition, and if your nationality needs an entry visa we confirm your route.

  5. Before you fly

    Book your flight

Fly into Senai Airport or Singapore Changi. Submit the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card online within three days before you arrive, and send us your visa approval and flight ticket. We arrange the endorsement and your airport clearance, and our team meets you on arrival.

  6. First week

    Screening and first class

Medical screening at an EMGS panel clinic is compulsory for every student. Your passport goes in for the student pass sticker and your i-Kad student ID follows. Meanwhile you have orientation, a placement test, and your first class.

What the visa process costs

Official EMGS fees for a new application of six months or less. Your tuition and your personal bond are confirmed separately in a written, itemised quotation.

The personal bond is a refundable security deposit required by Malaysian Immigration. The amount depends on your nationality. iSeodang signs and lodges it for you.

Government fees change without notice. These are the published rates in the EMGS schedule of fees v1.8, 23 June 2026. Your written quotation is the figure that counts.

Questions we are asked most

How long does the whole process take?

Plan on two to three months. The published EMGS charter is 14 working days once your file is complete, and incomplete documents add time.

Is approval guaranteed?

No. Malaysian Immigration makes the decision. We prepare a complete application, submit it through EMGS and track it for you.

Which nationalities and ages can apply?

Eligibility depends on both. Message us your nationality and age and we will tell you whether this programme is open to you.

Which languages can I study on this visa?

Korean, English, Chinese (Mandarin) or Bahasa Melayu. Every visa course is full-time, 20 hours a week.

What is the personal bond, and do I get it back?

It is a refundable security deposit that Malaysian Immigration requires for international students. If you keep to the visa rules and leave properly at the end of your studies, it is returned. iSeodang signs and lodges it for you, and the amount depends on your nationality.

How long is the student pass valid?

A student pass is usually issued for up to one year at a time and then renewed. Renewal needs at least 80% attendance. We track your dates and start renewal about three months before expiry.

Will someone meet me when I arrive?

Yes. We arrange your airport clearance and our team meets you on arrival. Send us your flight details once you have booked.

Tell us your nationality and the language you want to study.

We will reply with the next step.
